Welcome to my blog!
I am a twentysomething freelance editorial professional. People pay me to read stuff. It isn’t as easy as it sounds, but it is enjoyable.
I studied politics at university, and I have a keen interest in ancient history and the English language. You can see my fascination with words and typography reflected in many of my blog posts.
When I’m not working or writing, my chosen form of exercise is walking. I walk so I can continue with my real hobby – eating. Eating goes hand in hand with a regular consumption of stories: books, films and television.
I am a bit of a geek – I know the Lord of the Rings films inside out, I like Star Trek and Star Wars, and I’m still not over the cancellation of Firefly. My sense of humour is dry, and it’s a real pickle to convey in writing. But I also like the silly, the clever and the surreal (please see Monty Python).
This blog is dedicated to sharing the things I know because of my job. It is my hope that the posts are useful or at least interesting! I usually update the blog at least once a week, and topics range from homophones to grammatical rules.
If you would like to suggest any subjects for future posts, please feel free to comment here or contact me on Twitter. And if you would like to view my professional About page, you can do so here.
Hi Hannah! Thanks for the “like” over at my blog. I’m also a kitty mom! My current sweetie is Annie, a real princess, 3 years old, but my previous boy Spooky lived to 18. I’m also a proofreader by the way. Just finished proofing my son-in-law’s 130,000-word novel! “See” you again! 🙂

Hi Ellie. Yes, I have been following and enjoying your blog for a while now. All the best people are kitty moms! Ah, 130,000 words is a big task; it always feels like an achievement when I finish a project like that. I wish your son-in-law every success with his novel. All the best. 🙂

Hey there, thanks for stopping by at Wander & Stray! I’m quite envious of your skills as a proofreader! Goodness knows I have enough trouble keeping my tenses right, so what polished writing someone such as yourself must have :)! I’m just going through your blog now, and I’m finding lots of useful advice… so, really, I’m here to drop a quick thanks for that too!

Hello, proofreaderhannah, I wanted to thank you for following my blog! Being honest, it is probably full of mistakes and mispelled words, since English is not my first language, so I’m glad to have someone like you among my readers. Also, it seems like you’re easy to contact if needed, so I’ll definitely keep you in mind if I ever need a service like yours (who knows?). Again, thank you so much for following me, and I hope you have a wonderful day x

Hello! That is very nice of you – I enjoy reading your posts and look forward to more. To be honest, it had not even occurred to me that English might not be your first language so I don’t think you need to worry too much! Thank you and I hope that you have a wonderful day too 🙂
