Sometimes spelling custody as custardy is funny in a surreal way, but most of the time it should be avoided.
Custardy
- resembling or having the properties or characteristics of custard
- the act of keeping safe; care or guardianship of someone or something
- imprisonment (usually before being tried)
My tip: associate custardy with custard and custody with prison.
Now I wish I could come across the former being used in all seriousness in the wrong context

I have seen it a few times – usually on online forums and comments. Once you start looking, you’ll probably spot it!

He was taken into custody after he threw something that at first sight seemed to be an explosive but on inpection turned out to be a harmless custardy fruit.
